10:00PM-12:00AM P B's Blues Bar, Inc.
Come Saturday, July 7, I will depart for the Macon Country Court at 10:00 a.m. The "yellow-brick Romanesque-style structure" was built in 1907, and played a vital role in civil rights litigation beginning in the 1940's (Selbert). Tuskegee holds a significant bearing in regards to racial oppression and the triumph of the African American people over prejudice and inequality. Each historical monument I visit played a role in the emergence of advancement and progress for the Afro-American people. I will enjoy a leisurely lunch at Soul Inn at 12:00 p.m. feasting on homemade soul food. After a heavy and satisfying lunch, I will rest. Around 4:30 p.m. I will go to dinner at Torch 85 Restaurant, enjoying the shrimp & catfish platter. Dinner will cost approximately $20. Following dinner, I shall go to a production held by the Tuskegee Repertory Theatre, Inc. The company performs "original plays that reflect African-American heritage," especially that of historic Tuskegee (Selbert). An experience like such will vastly aid my journey to celebrate the African American culture and their triumph over mass racism and hinderances. I will go to such event to find a greater meaning and appreciation for African American arts, and their impact on the Afro-American identity. Immediately after the company production, I will head to P B's Blues Bar, for soothing music found at the core of the African American culture and arts. The night will end with a rush of live blues music.
